Orthopedic services
Many people leave the hospital following a major orthopedic injury (e.g. fractures) or surgery (e.g. total hip/knee replacements, stabilizations, etc) and require further services or equipment when at home. An O.T. is able to assess the person for the proper equipment and modifications that will allow for safety and independence in the home or worksite – even with medical restrictions. Often a therapist is required to enter the person’s worksite or school to ensure they are working the appropriate duties and hours for his/her condition as well as to provide the person with a comfortable workstation.
